Building Success That Servesa
The ‘Kailash’ Factor: “The three magical words for attaining success and happiness are ‘Learn, Earn, and Return’.”
THE MAN
American theologian Thomas Merton once said, “Pride makes us artificial; humility makes us real.” Soft-spoken and understated, Dr Kaliash Kumar Jain is as humble as they come. His sense of responsibility, empathy, and service has been a part of his being since the day he was born.
Dr Kailash was born on 14 March 1973, to Meethalal and Bhagwanti Bai Jain and grew up in a large, close-knit family of eight siblings. Though born and raised in Coimbatore, his roots in Dadhal village of Rajasthan have remained central to his identity.
At an age where children seek fun, Dr Kailash seemed to have already found the meaning of life. He showed an uncanny balance between excelling academically and actively serving society. He founded Jan Kalyan Seva Mandal when he was in the eighth standard to support an orphanage. Not only that, but he became a Chartered Accountant (CA), later strengthening his academic foundation with an MBA and doctoral research.
Through all this, Dr Kailash continued to give back to society. He says, “I grew up learning that education gives direction, but values give meaning. Watching my parents raise eight children with discipline and humility taught me early that success is incomplete if it is not shared. Every stage of my life—school, profession, family, even loss—reinforced one belief: whatever I earn must ultimately return to society.”
THE JOURNEY
Dr Kailash joined and is now a partner in Meethalal Jain & Co., an audit firm founded by his parents. The firm, established in 1996, has earned a reputation for its integrity, transparency, and accuracy. Dr Kailash has decades of practice under his belt and has been involved in the independent audit of nearly 300 corporates, handled complex taxation, arbitration, and search cases, and served as a trusted financial and investment adviser to over 40 corporate houses.
In 2016, Dr Kailash took over an engineering institute, namely the United Institute of Technology, and converted it into a full-fledged university. “Today, we have Engineering, Arts and Science, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Allied Health Sciences, and CBSC School under the UIT umbrella,” he says.
Beyond core accounting and education, Dr Kailash has also been associated with large-scale operational ventures, including the development and management of a water theme park and hospitality campus near Coimbatore, demonstrating his ability to oversee diverse, people-intensive enterprises while maintaining strong governance controls.
Dr Kailash’s work has earned wide recognition, including the Excellency Award from the Governor of Tamil Nadu for educational and charitable contributions, the UWA Effulgent Star of the Decade Award, Paul Harris Fellow and Major Donor Awards from Rotary, and multiple professional honours from LIC and industry bodies.
THE SPIRIT WITHIN
“What guided me was never the desire to do more, but the need to do what was right and lasting. I learned values don’t need to be announced—they need to be practiced every day, especially when no one is watching,” Dr Kailsah says, when asked what drives his philanthropy.
As Founder Chairman and Trustee of PMJ Charitable Trust and MMJD Trust, and through leadership roles in Rotary, JITO, and multiple welfare institutions, he has translated professional competence into social impact. He is also closely associated with cultural and community initiatives, including his partnership in a classical music channel, EPPO Music. One of his most significant long-term commitments has been to animal welfare through the ‘gaushala’ he has been associated with for several years and is also a trustee of. Over time, the ‘gaushala’ has evolved into a community-accessible space, with plantation and fruit-bearing trees, battery-operated vehicles for elderly visitors, and a Jain temple within the premises.
Besides these ongoing efforts, along with industrial leaders from many major groups, Dr Kailash has helped form a new trust named Olirum Kovai aimed at improving urban hygiene and civic responsibility. As Founder Chairman of this initiative, he is leading the implementation of 180 women-exclusive ‘Pink Toilets’ across the city, particularly near industrial areas and public space and making Coimbatore the first dog-free town.
A quiet conviction that nation-building begins with small, practical actions—cleanliness, respect for nature, accessibility unifies his professional journey, philanthropic work, and sense of patriotism, and shared civic responsibility. “My profession gave me skills and stability, but service gave my work meaning. Every audit, every institution, every initiative taught me that excellence is not just about results—it is about responsibility. I have always believed that what we build professionally must strengthen society, not just ourselves,” he reflects.
THE LEGACY
Dr Kailash views legacy as something that unfolds quietly over time—through habits, choices, and the standards one sets at home. He shares this journey with his wife, Trishala Kumari, an accomplished professional in her own right, whose discipline and sense of purpose mirror his own. The couple has two sons, Bhavik and Shreyans, who have been raised with an emphasis on humility, responsibility, and respect for effort, ensuring that privilege never replaces principle.
Rather than positioning the next generation for entitlement, he focuses on preparing them for accountability, encouraging learning before earning, and awareness before ambition. “I learned early that what shapes a person is not what they are told, but what they grow up seeing. If the next generation learns to value effort, restraint, and responsibility simply by watching how we live, then the legacy is already in place,” he shares.
MAPPING THE INDIA WITHIN
Bharat: Then and Now
“When I look back at the Bharat I grew up in, resources were limited and progress was slow, but values were strong. Education, discipline, and patience mattered deeply. Institutions were built gradually, with care and integrity. Today, Bharat moves with confidence, scale, and speed, yet I believe education must remain a service, not a business.”
Bharatiya Values that Travelled
“I have studied Bharatiyas abroad—students, professionals, and families—who may live outside India but carry its values within them. Discipline, respect for knowledge, and responsibility travel with them. Through interactions with overseas faculty, collaborators, and alumni, I have seen how deeply these values remain rooted.”
Generations Abroad: A New Bharatiya Identity
“Today’s Bharatiya abroad is confident and rooted at the same time. They lead with competence and character, without the need to imitate. I have witnessed this through our students and faculty engagements internationally—global in outlook, Indian in values. Identity, to me, is defined by principles, not geography.”
Pride, Progress, and the Spirit Of Bharat
“Progress, to me, has never been about personal wealth or recognition, but about strengthening Bharat through institutions held in trust for society. As our institutions grew across disciplines, pride came not from size, but from sustainable service. The spirit of Bharat lies in thinking beyond oneself—where true national pride is expressed through quiet work, ethical governance, and placing institution and nation above the individual.”
Dreams for the Youth and Future of Bharat
“When I think of Bharat’s youth, I feel hopeful. My message is simple: dream big, but stay grounded. Education is not only about employment; it is a responsibility. The country needs skilled professionals who are socially conscious, committed to integrity, and willing to work patiently for meaningful progress.”
