The Ishwar-Nikita Factor: “Nothing is impossible if one remains grounded.”
THE MAN
Success does not come to those who aimlessly chase it, but it rewards those who work actively towards achieving it. Be it individually or now together after their marriage, Ishwar Kumhar and Nikita Kumawat have built their journeys through hard work and determination.
Ishwar was born and brought up in Sirohi, Rajasthan, while Nikita was born in Kota, Rajasthan and brought up in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Ishwar started attending the only school in his village in the third grade and quickly discovered conventional lessons did not engage him. Instead, he found his gift for numbers at his maternal uncle’s shop. During his matriculation examination, he managed to clear a few subjects, failing in others. But he scored exceptionally well in Mathematics, which caught the attention of a family friend and Physics professor, Pramod Verma. Ishwar says, “I owe him a lot. He saw my potential and encouraged me to pursue further studies,” he recalls. Ishwar cleared his matriculation, followed by the high school examination with pure sciences.
Nikita’s parents were similar. She grew up watching her NRI father take risks and progress in his career, and her mother quietly built the foundation of discipline and tenacity in their home. Nikita was academically talented, and from school through university, she followed one simple rule. She says, “The best deserves the best—anything I picked up, I had to excel at.”
Brought up in different places, their foundations were the same. They come from humble, hardworking families where education is considered a privilege, work is worship, and character matters more than circumstances. When they met and got married, not only did they share a value system, but they also became partners in success.
THE JOURNEY
Ishwar and Nikita were always destined to be entrepreneurs. Everything they did has led to Brandworks Technologies being the success that it is. After securing first rank in the Rajasthan Engineering Entrance Test, Ishwar completed his BTech in Electronics at MNIT Jaipur. Ishwar was the first to realise he was not meant for the 9-to-5 world and soon quit his first job to start ventures like Print Club Zone and co-founding Ek Matra Technology, which became his learning ground for entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, Nikita completed her BE from SGSITS, Indore, followed by an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Digital & Telecom Management, Pune; a summer programme at Institut Mines-Télécom Business School, France, and a Stanford Seed programme.
She began her career with roles at Tech Mahindra, Tata Communications, and Ernst & Young.
She says, “I quit my job at Ernst & Young in 2015 to start my own business. I was already exploring IoT and emerging technologies. I launched Startupbuzz.com, connecting with digital entrepreneurs and learning content marketing, media distribution, and startup growth.”
It was in 2017 that Nikita founded Sofit.io, focusing on wearable tech and electronics. Ishwar joined her, contributing with his operational and supply chain expertise. Together, they expanded the venture into multiple categories—charging solutions, audio systems including Dolby Atmos, UPI devices, surveillance, and dash cameras. Now, the company has evolved into Brandworks Technologies. “We have an 18-person leadership team with more than 300 employees. It is teamwork that has made the journey worthwhile, “Nikita proudly states.
THE SPIRIT WITHIN
When people reach the peak of success, it is easy to forget that there are people still struggling. Ishwar and Nikita do not belong to that set of people. Very aware of their struggles and the encouragement they received, they are paying it forward and creating opportunities for others to thrive. As part of the company’s CSR, they launched the Brandworks Incubator Research Foundation, aimed at guiding emerging entrepreneurs. They say. “Helping young entrepreneurs by guiding them, creating opportunities, and supporting their ideas gives us immense joy. We aim to incubate 500 startups through our foundation.”
The couple is also deeply committed to maintaining gender equality in the workforce, with more than 70 percent of their employees being women. “Girl education is very dear to me—it’s crucial to creating the future of independent women,” Nikita adds.
Outside the office, Ishwar and his seven-year-old son, Ivan, have created a virtual blueprint for ‘Ivan’s farmhouse’, which will be, among other things, a ‘goshala’ (shelter for cows).
THE LEGACY
Ishwar and Nikita have built a life – personal and professional – partnership based on trust, faith, and a shared vision of what success means to them. Nikita says, “We measure success by impact, not just revenue, running our organisation with transparency, empathy, and a people-first mindset, guided by Indian values such as karma, honesty, gratitude, and discipline.”
The journey has been challenging, but they have never faced it alone. Ishwar says, “When my business did not perform as expected, it was her encouragement that led to me joining Brandworks and not many know this, but it was Nikita’s initiative.” He also credits the company’s success to her: “She is the master strategist, and I handle the groundwork and execution.”
Be it at work or at home, raising their bright seven-year-old son, Ivan, they manage the ideal balance. Secret formula? “We respect each other unconditionally and rest as much as possible for collective wellbeing,” Nikta reveals.
Ivan is a mix of their strengths—curious, numbers-oriented, and independent. Ishwar and Nikita are raising him without imposing expectations, focusing on ensuring he grows up to be a kind, thoughtful human being.
For Ishwar and Nikita, legacy is important because it means “we are building something meaningful that uplifts people, industry, and the nation.”
They aim to create India’s most respected design-led manufacturing company—one that turns ideas into products, and talent into opportunities. It is the perfect embodiment of the spirit of Make in India, made by two very hard-working Indians, for their beloved India.
MAPPING THE INDIA WITHIN
Bharat: Then and Now
“As children, Bharat meant home and belonging. We grew up in peaceful streets, close-knit neighbourhoods, familiar festivals, morning temple bells, and the warmth of community. Today, Bharat means innovation, ambition, and global leadership, but still deeply rooted in its values.”
Bharatiya Values that Travelled
“Respect for family, reverence for knowledge, and the spirit of seva (service) are the Indian values that we carry with us when we travel, be it within the country or abroad.”
Generations Abroad: A New Bharatiya Identity
“Our entrepreneurial journey reflects resilience, unity, and constant growth—values we carry in every step. We lead with humility, respect, and the belief that our work should uplift society. Our son is growing up in a new India, thriving in adaptability and progress, and we are raising him to be a proud Indian with a global outlook.”
Pride, Progress, and the Spirit Of Bharat
“Through design-led manufacturing, global partnerships, and innovation, we represent a bold, modern, self-reliant India. Our ‘zero to 500 crore’ journey in seven years—built with Indian talent and determination—is our tribute to Bharat. Interacting with foreign clients today, we feel the respect accorded to the Indian spirit. We are no longer asking for a seat at the table—we are hosting it.”
Dreams for the Youth and Future of Bharat
“We carry forward the legacy of hard work and discipline. We dream of India as a global hub of design and technology. To the youth: follow your hearts, stay rooted in culture, and believe in yourselves and India—there is no dream too big.”
