78th Army Day 2026
When the Indian Army Marched from Barracks to the Heart of the Nation

Every year, on 15 January, India proudly commemorates the Indian Army Day, a day dedicated to honouring the courage, discipline, and sacrifice of the men and women of the Indian Army.
The Build-Up
In the days leading up to the 78th edition of Indian Army Day, a series of outreach and engagement initiatives were organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with local authorities. The build-up featured a vibrant cycle rally that saw soldiers, veterans, NCC cadets, and civilians ride together across the city, symbolising unity and national pride. This was followed by the “Know Your Army” exhibition, where citizens—especially students and families—had the opportunity to interact with soldiers and explore displays of military equipment, technology, and operational capabilities. Cultural and commemorative events such as Shaurya Sandhya celebrated India’s martial traditions through dramatic performances, martial arts demonstrations, and a spectacular drone show depicting stories of military valour. Alongside these events, full-dress parade rehearsals and public demonstrations generated excitement across the city, giving residents an early glimpse of the grand spectacle to come.

The Historic Event
The Army also showcased a wide array of modern weapon systems and combat platforms, including T‑90 Bhishma tanks, M777 ultra-light howitzers, SMERCH rocket launchers, BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, and advanced surveillance drones. Robotics demonstrations, unmanned vehicles, and data-centric command systems highlighted the Army’s integration of cutting-edge technology and modern warfare capabilities. The parade concluded with cultural performances, martial arts demonstrations, and a drone light show, celebrating India’s martial heritage.
Yet Another Celebration – In Print, Forever
History has to be recorded for posterity. When Maneesh Media was approached for this project, we were hardly going to refuse!
US President John F. Kennedy once said, “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”
This was our chance to do something for our country! To be a small part of a momentous endeavour. Thus, came into being, a special coffee-table book titled 78th Army Day: Barracks to the Heart of the Nation – From Idea to Impact.
A record of the entire journey – from the original vision of bringing the Indian Army closer to the citizens to the execution of the spectacular parade in Jaipur. Through powerful photographs, proportional narratives, and behind-the-scenes insights, the publication captures a 360-degree view of the milestone, highlighting its national significance.
For us at Maneesh Media, this book will serve as inspiration to be like the brave soldiers fighting at the forefront. It is a reminder that when people from all ranks and walks of life gather together, they stand united and strong.
We hope that this book encourages us all to do more for our country, even if it means taking one small step to watch an Army Day Parade and then pick up the litter after.
