Indian Union Minister Piyush Goyal’s Canada Visit Renews India-Canada Trade Momentum
India’s Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal’s three-day visit to Canada signalled a renewed focus on trade, investment, innovation, and the ongoing Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) discussions.
The visit, held from May 25 to 28 across Ottawa and Toronto, brought together government leaders, institutional investors, business councils, innovation platforms, regional chambers, and members of the Indo-Canadian community.
India’s Union Minister called on Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Ottawa, where discussions focused on deepening India-Canada cooperation and accelerating CEPA. Carney described the proposed free trade agreement with India as “a game changer for Canadian workers and businesses — unlocking a massive new market,” while Goyal said the talks were “forward-looking” and expressed optimism about the early conclusion of CEPA.
Later speaking at a joint media address in Ottawa with Canada’s Minister of International Trade, Maninder Sidhu, the Indian Union Minister said, “Our Prime Minister (Shri Narendra Modi) has tasked us not only with completing the free trade agreement with a comprehensive outlook before the end of this year or earlier — but also tripling our trade from a current USD8.5 billion to US$50 billion by 2030.”
Goyal led the largest-ever Indian business delegation to Canada, comprising leaders from more than 100 Indian companies, who interacted and engaged with leading Indo-Canadian business leaders. As part of his visit, Goyal also addressed the members of the Canada India Foundation (CIF) in an exclusive interaction.
Among those present at the Albany Club meeting was Kuldeep Sharma, Chairman & CEO of Crown Group of Hotels, Chairman of Sashi Security, and a member of the Canada India Foundation’s Board of Governors.
Addressing CIF members, Goyal urged the Indo-Canadian community to seize the opportunity before them. “Time is ripe for this partnership to take wings,” he said.
Calling the Union Minister’s speech “inspiring, Sharma hoped that the renewed focus on CEPA “brings more transformative outcomes for entrepreneurs and investors on both sides.”
In other engagements, Goyal addressed the Munk School at the University of Toronto, engaged with the Ontario Centre of Innovation and Canada-India Tech Connect, and highlighted opportunities in AI, quantum computing, cleantech, agritech, and deep tech. He also met Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario; Goldy Hyder of the Business Council of Canada; Jo Taylor of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan; and John Graham of CPP Investments.
A Bold New Vision in Global Healthcare at CINI 2026

SMJV-USA Gathering Celebrates the Power of Giving Back
A recent gathering organised by Shree Mahavir Jain Vidyalaya (SMJV) USA Inc. at Jay Bharat Restaurant in the United States became a heartfelt celebration of gratitude, memory, and community responsibility.
The event brought together SMJV alumni, supporters, and community leaders whose lives have been deeply shaped by the institution. Many of them once came to SMJV with very little — limited means, uncertain futures, and the quiet hope that education could change their lives. SMJV gave them more than a place to study. It gave them shelter, guidance, discipline, values, and the confidence to build a future.
Years later, many of those very students have returned as successful professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders, determined to ensure that other young Jain students receive the same support that once transformed their own lives.
At the heart of the evening was Dr. Jasvant Modi, whose leadership and commitment continue to inspire the wider Jain community. He encouraged alumni and well-wishers to see giving not as an act of obligation, but as a sacred cycle — one generation lifting the next. His message was clear: those who have benefited from institutions like SMJV carry a special responsibility to help the next student rise.
Throughout the gathering, the spirit was not of individual recognition but collective gratitude. Alumni, donors, trustees, and supporters came together to strengthen SMJV’s educational mission through donations, guidance, mentorship, and continued community involvement.
Revival Initiative for India’s Scholarly Heritage held
A five-day Manuscriptology Introduction Workshop, held in Patan, Gujarat, from April 7–11, 2026, brought renewed attention to India’s vast manuscript heritage. Organised by Shrut Ratnakar: Centre for Indological Studies in collaboration with the Vardhaman Charitable Foundation, the workshop focused on preserving and interpreting ancient Jain manuscripts.
A significant aspect of the workshop was the support extended by Dr. Jasvant Modi and Meera Modi (USA), whose contribution through the Vardhaman Charitable Foundation helped make the initiative possible.
The programme took place at the historic Shree Hemchandracharya Jain Gyan Mandir, home to more than 27,000 manuscripts and regarded as one of India’s most important repositories of Jain knowledge traditions. The workshop brought together monastic scholars, researchers, students, and lay participants to study manuscript preservation, Brāhmī and Devānāgarī scripts, textual editing, and Jain scribal traditions.
Organisers described the initiative as an important step toward ensuring that India’s ancient knowledge systems remain accessible to future generations in an increasingly digital age.

One Wedding, A Forever Tale
You know what we love more than weddings? Listening to people to recount the stories that follow them. You can imagine why we were most excited when we were approached to create a special keepsake on this couple’s inter-country wedding celebration. What a joy it was to relive their most precious moments of joy, nervousness, and the excitement of starting a new life.
A Joyous Retelling …
When we sat down to have the first conversation, little did we know we would be in for a sensory treat. One filled with vivid memories, animated retellings, and moments that came alive all over again.
As work progressed, conversations would start with one moment and quickly drift into another. Sometimes, one speaker would be explaining a serious ritual and suddenly someone else would chime in with a funny incident, making us all erupt in laughter.
There were stories of lost items found in the weirdest of places and last minute delays causing the wedding planners to pivot completely. Little confusions that, in the moment, may have seemed stressful, were now being remembered with warmth and humour.
And then there were the softer memories—the ones that caught us tearing up. When a mother realised that she was letting her daughter go. The coy exchanges between the bride and the groom, the co-ordinated dances, singing, and everything in between.
Shaping Emotions into Words
As storytellers, our role is to engage with the emotion behind each memory, and to truly understand how each person chose to remember the same moment differently.
The book began to take shape through these layered recollections. Not as a perfect narrative, but as an honest one—filled with life, spontaneity, and the essence of what the celebration truly felt like. The final outcome was more than just a wedding album. It became a shared experience, preserved in a way that allows it to be revisited again and again—not just for how it looked, but for how it was lived. For us, it was a privilege to be part of this process—not just as creators, but as quiet witnesses to the joy of remembering.

A Son’s Question, A Family Reconnected, A Legacy Preserved
Don’t all great quests begin with a question? Well, in this true story of how a renaissance of emotions spurred the creation of a spectacular book, it was a son’s question that began it all.
A Question, An Idea …
He had built himself a life far removed from where his parents once began. But almost every day of those 15-odd years in the distant land, there was always one thought that lingered in his otherwise occupied mind. “What had my parents’ life truly been like?”
Growing up, he had heard stories of rural life, one shaped by modest means and sometimes absence of even the basic necessities.
But those stories were just fragments. The son wanted to dig deeper. He wanted to understand how the journey unfolded – from humble beginnings to crossing continents and building a life for themselves and their family.
From his teenage years to his forties, this question stayed with him. The desire to document this journey was outweighed by vicissitudes of life. The idea was discussed, deliberated, but it remained just that – an idea.
From Idea to Legacy
Every idea needs someone to shape it into reality and Maneesh Media became the architect. As we began working with the family, we realised that this was more than a book. This was the fulfilment of a decades-long quest to discover who the family truly was.
Our interactions began from simple questions and before long we had become a part of their journey, drinking tea, listening to memories and anecdotes that brought smiles, tears, and more on their faces and ours.
Factual storytelling is never linear. It has to follow the flow, where the mind takes the narrator and as we navigated the pauses and the excess of information, we knew that this was more than just a book in the making.
We were building something magnificent, story by story, emotion by emotion. The idea was becoming a legacy.
Bridge to Communication
As a storyteller and publisher there is nothing more satisfying than witnessing the reconnections that were once lost to time and lapsed communication. This book became the bridge. The family, immediate and extended, sat together, conversations restarted, and relationships mended. And in between all this, emerged a reservoir of memories that had been stored deep in the recesses of mind. And as they flowed freely, so did our craft shape them into an authentic telling of this family’s extraordinary journey from rural India to the bright lights and promises of the United States.
A Desire Fulfilled, A Legacy Secured
The question that the son had lived with for all these years had now found the answer. It was now recorded for posterity in the pages and words that would outlast any of them. The book is now a memory bank, for the next generation to dip into and borrow the wealth of wisdom from the lives their ancestors once lived.
Is there anything more fulfilling than that? No, there is not.
Not for the Son, not for us. His family’s legacy continues and so does ours – as storytellers and bridges that bring people together.

A Look Behind the Scenes
Any event looks effortless on stage, but behind every spotlight moment lies a full day of energy, coordination, and a lot of coffee! The launch of Jewels of India- Bharat ki Shaan, Bharat ka Abhiman by Maneesh Media at The Ashok, New Delhi in New Delhi wasn’t just an evening celebration; it was an all-day experience filled with learning, excitement, and behind-the-scenes hustle.
The Morning Buzz: Industry Meets Academia
The day began much before the book launch, with a special Industry Academia Knowledge Session designed for college students. The idea was simple yet powerful, bringing students face-to-face with real industry voices and giving them insights beyond textbooks.
But behind the calm and professional setup was a fast-moving preparation zone.
From arranging registration desks to taking their positions to welcome the guests, the team was already in full action mode by early morning. The night before had brought the news that one of our five invited speakers had to opt out. The mad rush at 10 pm in the night to find another speaker caused more than a few raised blood pressures, but everything was quickly sorted.
Morning brought with it last-minute coordination with the five invited speakers, which kept everyone on their toes, confirming arrival timings, session flow, and microphones checks. In the meanwhile, student groups started arriving with curiosity and excitement, while volunteers guided them to their seats. The microphones decided to take a pause and that caused some glitches before everything could flow smoothly. So, how did the session turn out?
That’s another blog post all together. You can read about it here
Transition Mode: From Knowledge Sharing to Collective Celebration
The morning session had only just successfully concluded, but there was more to be done. A pause to breathe in some food and the team was at it again! The evening event was at a grander scale so the efforts had to be similar. As much as we would have liked it to be a marathon, it became a sprint!
But our team switched on gears like the pros we are! Standees were repositioned, book displays were arranged carefully, lighting angles were adjusted, and branding elements were refined to match the celebratory tone of the evening. Boxes of freshly printed books arrived, always a magical moment. Team members handled each copy with care, aligning them perfectly for display. Meanwhile, the entire sequence for the evening went topsy turvy. But we recovered, quick fixes were found and we managed to give the audience a show that they deserved!

78th Army Day 2026: When the Indian Army Marched from Barracks to the Heart of the Nation
Every year, on 15 January, India proudly commemorates the Indian Army Day, a day dedicated to honouring the courage, discipline, and sacrifice of the men and women of the Indian Army.
Each Army Day is special because it honours the significant moment in 1949 when Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa took charge as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief, replacing British leadership and symbolising India’s military sovereignty.
But the 78th Army Day held this year was particularly historic in itself. It broke away from tradition and took the celebrations onto the streets. It marked a powerful shift, bringing the Indian Army closer to the very people it has sworn to protect.
The vibrant city of Jaipur in Rajasthan was chosen for this celebration. The Army, particularly the South Western Command, worked closely with the civil administration in Jaipur to ensure a seamless execution of the event.
The Build-Up
In the days leading up to the 78th edition of Indian Army Day, a series of outreach and engagement initiatives were organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with local authorities. The build-up featured a vibrant cycle rally that saw soldiers, veterans, NCC cadets, and civilians ride together across the city, symbolising unity and national pride. This was followed by the “Know Your Army” exhibition, where citizens—especially students and families—had the opportunity to interact with soldiers and explore displays of military equipment, technology, and operational capabilities. Cultural and commemorative events such as Shaurya Sandhya celebrated India’s martial traditions through dramatic performances, martial arts demonstrations, and a spectacular drone show depicting stories of military valour. Alongside these events, full-dress parade rehearsals and public demonstrations generated excitement across the city, giving residents an early glimpse of the grand spectacle to come.
The Historic Event
Mahal Road in Jaipur, stretching from Akshay Patra Circle to Bombay Hospital, became witness to a historic first – for the Indian Army holding the celebration in a civilian urban area. From marching contingents from infantry battalions such as the Garhwal Scouts, Sikkim Scouts, Arunachal Scouts, and the newly-deployed Bhairav Battalion, a specialised technology-focused commando unit, it was pageantry like no other! These units were accompanied by regimental bands, ceremonial troops, and precision drill teams, creating a visually striking display of discipline and cohesion.
The Army also showcased a wide array of modern weapon systems and combat platforms, including T‑90 Bhishma tanks, M777 ultra-light howitzers, SMERCH rocket launchers, BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, and advanced surveillance drones. Robotics demonstrations, unmanned vehicles, and data-centric command systems highlighted the Army’s integration of cutting-edge technology and modern warfare capabilities. The parade concluded with cultural performances, martial arts demonstrations, and a drone light show, celebrating India’s martial heritage.
Yet Another Celebration – In Print, Forever
History has to be recorded for posterity. When Maneesh Media was approached for this project, we were hardly going to refuse!
US President John F. Kennedy once said, “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”
This was our chance to do something for our country! To be a small part of a momentous endeavour. Thus, came into being, a special coffee-table book titled 78th Army Day: Barracks to the Heart of the Nation – From Idea to Impact.
A record of the entire journey – from the original vision of bringing the Indian Army closer to the citizens to the execution of the spectacular parade in Jaipur. Through powerful photographs, proportional narratives, and behind-the-scenes insights, the publication captures a 360-degree view of the milestone, highlighting its national significance.
For us at Maneesh Media, this book will serve as inspiration to be like the brave soldiers fighting at the forefront. It is a reminder that when people from all ranks and walks of life gather together, they stand united and strong.
We hope that this book encourages us all to do more for our country, even if it means taking one small step to watch an Army Day Parade and then pick up the litter after.

A Birthday, A Pandemic, A Legacy Preserved
It all began with the intention to celebrate the milestone birthday of a parent.
A Seemingly Simple Request
The son contacted us to ask us if we could help the family create a memento. The request seemed simple: “We want to create a book about our parents’ lives.Nothing complicated, not a biography, just something that we can hold on to and celebrate.”
But when the life in question has been on this earth for a centenary, how can it be simple storytelling? To chronicle a 100-year journey in a few months! We knew telling this story would require more than just back and forth of emails. So we got to work. We sat with the matriarch, the children, the grandchildren, the relatives, the extended family, friends, colleagues. We listened as they laughed and cried while sharing anecdotes. We often had to read between the lines too.
Obstacles – Every Good Story Has one or Few
In life and in storytelling, challenges arrive unannounced. This book’s release had been scheduled for 2020. But then, a virus took the world by storm and life as we know it changed. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the plans. Naturally, health concerns and the safe distancing rule made face-to-face interactions tricky.
That’s it, we thought. The project was not just stalled, but over.
However, hope did not let us give up. We found ways around obstacles and slowly but steadily the project revived itself.
Triumph of Human Connection
Neatly tied up, the books were sent to family members across latitudes and longitudes. We were not quite ready for the reactions we received. The stories, the photographs came alive, connecting uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews. Suddenly, conversations were being had at the dinner table. Forgotten memories were shared over phone calls and promises to reunions were made and fulfilled. The Human Connection had triumphed.
Enduring Lessons
Today, the parent has outlived one child. Yet the journey has endured. It has put into motion more celebrations. Milestones have followed, but this time, everyone paused and participated. Because that is how life is meant to be lived.
Each family’s journey is unique in its own way. But a common thread runs through all of the stories – the desire to acknowledge the sacrifices that were made, to celebrate the achievements and to reclaim what was once lost to the vicissitudes of life: the family bond.
Each book has taught us a lesson. From this one we learned that everyone needs a ‘still point’ where restlessness is paused. Memories, connections, and simple joys are let in.
There is much to be said for the lightness of being present in the moment. It endures, sustains us during the toughest of times. What more can one ask for?

The Only Inheritance That Matters: Why We Document Your Family’s Story
Technology may change how we connect, but not our need for roots. A family book is more than a legacy book that becomes a still point in a restless world—a testament to where we come from and who we choose to become. Anthropologists and psychologists agree that documenting these journeys is essential for human identity. Let’s look at the reasons why.
The Ancestral Fabric
No man is an island unto himself; we are a species that thrives in togetherness and bonds. Family and legacy have always been woven into the human fabric, with evidence found even in pre-human biological structures. From prehistoric cave paintings and burial practices to oral myths, these were early attempts to say, ‘We were here, and this is who we were’.
The Global Connection
Now, technology has changed how we communicate, but not why we do. We are spread across cities and continents; we celebrate festivals on Skype and mark family milestones through screens. These stories become the emotional anchor we need, no matter where we go.
The Wisdom of Lineage
World cultures have long relied on families to transmit memory, wisdom, and identity across time. If we talk about religion:
Hindu Dharma: Speaks of ‘Pitru Rin’—the ancestral debt that every individual must honour.
The Bible: Calls children “a heritage from the Lord”.
The Quran: Details ‘nasl’ (progeny) as a trust and bond of kinship.
The Resilience Metric
Psychological research on the ‘Do You Know?’ scale discovered that children who knew their family history show higher resilience, stronger coping skills, and more secure identities. Conversely, when a story dies, a piece of identity dies with it. UNESCO warns that without active preservation, intergenerational knowledge often disappears within two or three generations.
The Chronicler’s Responsibility
We are India’s leading diaspora publishing house, and with that comes a responsibility larger than any of us. When you come to us, you give us the special privilege of peeping into your world—your past, present, identities, challenges, and victories. We take immense pride in becoming your dedicated ‘Sutradhars’.
The Lasting Legacy
As chroniclers, we become the bearers of the thread that binds, protects, and preserves your legacy in a keepsake worthy of becoming an inheritance. It is a book that can be passed from generation to generation—the Rolex of your library. It is a time capsule that safeguards what digital lives cannot, creating a roadmap for the young ones to follow.
The Essence of Us
Family books matter because they allow you to hold the very essence of your lineage in your hands. They remind children and grandchildren that their story did not begin with them; it began long before, in the struggles and conviction of those who came before.
This is why the story of Us matters – because we endured, dreamed, and we made this world better. This is who we are. This is who you are. Let us take your story to the world. Get in touch to create a legacy like no other.

A Time for Gratitude, A Time for New Beginnings
Turn, Turn, Turn …
To everything there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under heaven.”
— Pete Seeger
Pete Seeger wrote the song, setting to music verses from the Book of Ecclesiastes (Chapter 3) in the Hebrew Bible. Written in 1959, this song has stood the test of time and as a testimonial to the wisdom of letting go.
We recognise the life that has passed us by and we wait in anticipation for the future that is about to unfold.
For us at Maneesh Media, it has been a season of storytelling amid grief of losing a beloved member of the family. We have travelled across the world – gathering stories to put together in our upcoming Jewels of India – Bharat Ki Shaan, Bharat Ka Abhiman.
But that’s not all. We were busy celebrating creativity and stories. From the Dhaliwals’ devotion (MEHER) and the Gandhi family’s journey (Memoirs of The Gandhi Family), to the Shah family’s philanthropy (From Nothing to Something), community changemakers (Lend A Hand India and Seeing Beyond Sight – Drashti Netralaya), inspiring Indians (Rise of The Icons), and courageous transgender warriors (TRANSformation), to the elemental celebration of love and togetherness—Prana – A Journey Through the Five Elements (honouring Varun & Anushree Choudhary of the family behind the renowned WAI WAI legacy) and Imagination in Myriad Hues (the vibrant artwork of their children), Virasat Bhi Vikas Bhi (in collaboration with the Rajasthan Foundation) —each book is as unique as its subject. As the year progresses, we look forward to sharing more about these titles and the journeys behind them.
But, that’s enough about us.
As a new year begins, we want to thank our readers, supporters, and patrons for being at the heart of everything we do. Your trust and stories inspire us to preserve memories, honour journeys, and celebrate lives that connect generations.
We wish you joy, meaningful moments, and endless inspiration in the year ahead. May your days be filled with hope, laughter, and stories worth sharing.
And as the year turns—well, turn, turn, turn! Happy New Year!
Warm Regards
Team Maneesh Media

It’s India’s Time to Shine
A nation of 1.4 billion people, the world’s largest democracy, and the fastest-growing major economy, India is at the centre of a once-in-a-generation power shift.
India is among the few nations, shaping the new world order. Let’s look at the reasons why.
The Numbers Game
The country grew at 7.6 percent, the highest among major economies in 2024-25. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projections indicate that India is poised to contribute over 16 percent of global growth over the next five years.
Even as traditionally strong powers are facing stagnation, India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expanding. This is being fuelled by a robust manufacturing ecosystem, digital infrastructure, and scientific ambition, climbing at a pace unmatched by most of the world.
The Diplomacy Flex
India ranks 3rd in diplomatic influence in the Asia Power Index and is ahead of Japan. This is largely due to strategic partnerships that span the Indo-Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Europe, and North America. India today operates over 218 resident missions—one of the largest diplomatic networks in the world.
The Diaspora Network
If the world is a global village, we can safely assume that it is more ‘Indian’ than before. Our diaspora is 18-million strong – living across the world – and contributing a jaw-dropping US $111 billion in annual remittances—the highest globally. Among these global citizens are CEOs, professors, surgeons, mayors, lawmakers, unicorn founders, and cultural ambassadors.
The Soft Power Metrics
The diaspora is India’s overseas contingent reflecting India’s soft power and unique Indian identity in a highly Western-centric world. In the Brand Finance Global Soft Power Index 2025, India jumped to Rank 30 but ranked 6th worldwide in arts & entertainment and 8th in space technology. Bollywood, yoga, Ayurveda, Indian cuisine, fashion and music now influence every major world capital.
The Indian Century
Speaking at the G20 recently, Indian Prime Minister Hon’ble Narendra Modi said it best. “This is not the decade of India. This is the century of India.”
And leading this Indian century is its young demographic. With a median age of 28, India has one of the world’s youngest workforces. By 2030, India is expected to add one-fifth of the world’s working-age population — a great prospect for global investment seeking stable, skilled labour.
The Shaping Influence
Gone are the days when India had to often balance its expectations to meet global demands.
India now stands tall among those who shape expectations. Leading the Global South in everything from conversations on climate justice, digital equity, and multilateral reform, India is a voice that refuses to be unheard.
The Legacy of Wisdom
India is unique in itself not just as a geographic land formation but also as a civilisational legacy. It gave the world zero, the decimal system, and groundbreaking advances in mathematics and astronomy. From yoga and Ayurveda to timeless philosophy, literature, art, and music, India has continued to shape the cultural fabric of the world.
But what sets India apart is its ethos – from the Harappan civilization to the modern one – is its wisdom that is rooted in diversity, tolerance, and kindness. In a fraught global order, India remains the steady lighthouse of spiritual guidance. India is the world’s moral compass.
What gives India this ability? It has nothing to do with numbers or statistics or its position on various lists. It has to do with the collective confidence of knowing its true strength. It is the belief that Indian values of democracy, diversity, entrepreneurship, family, community can not only sustain Indians no matter where they live but also become a blueprint for others to follow.
A rising India is a source of pride; it is a clarion call of an ancient nation’s global credibility. From the sands of the Sahara to the peaks of the Himalayas; from the Amazon rainforests to the skyscrapers of Japan, India’s spirit thrives in the possibility of a shared rise.
India has not just arrived on the global stage. It is the lead performer. It’s our time to shine. Cue the applause and encores. India is here to inspire, innovate, and lead.
