Meet three home-grown achievers featured in our first edition of Jewels of India – Bharat Ki Shaan, Bharat Ka Abhiman whose journeys reflect the resilience, scale, and ambition driving India’s rise on the global stage.
ANIL GUPTA
Born in Delhi in 1959, Anil Gupta learnt the meaning of hard work long before he entered the boardroom. At sixteen, he was already immersed in the family business, understanding every nut, bolt, and cable that would one day shape his destiny. By the time he formally joined KEI Industries at twenty, he carried not just ambition, but a deep respect for integrity, discipline, and commitment. Under his leadership, KEI evolved from a modest manufacturing unit into a global electrical powerhouse exporting to more than 65 countries. Despite his remarkable achievements, Anil remains deeply grounded and believes values are a family’s greatest inheritance. For him, charity is not obligation but instinct, and promises are sacred. Anil Gupta is more than the steward of KEI Industries—he is a steady force India’s rising manufacturing star.
SANJAY DHANCHAND GHODAWAT
Born in Kolhapur and raised in the industrious town of Jaysingpur, Sanjay Dhanchand Ghodawat is proof that ambition is not exclusively found in big cities. So when the 90s brought in liberalisation, Sanjay found himself taking a leap of faith into entrepreneurship with fearless conviction and strategic brilliance of Shivaji Maharaj. Early challenges in textiles and marble did not deter him, as he continued to build his businesses with both scale and purpose. Today, the Sanjay Ghodawat Group spans aviation, FMCG, education, energy, and several other sectors, reflecting his belief that Indian enterprise can compete globally while remaining deeply rooted in national values. So much so that he has woven sustainability and compassion into the DNA of his ventures—from eco-conscious campuses to India’s first vegetarian airline. His philanthropic work across education, healthcare, disaster relief, and pandemic support reflects a larger philosophy: success must create societal impact.
SHITAL OMPRAKASH AGRAWAL
Shital Omprakash Agrawal learned early on that success is nothing if it is not achieved with integrity. Watching his father navigate life’s highs and lows with honesty as his only constant taught Shital an enduring lesson: a man’s word is his true wealth. Today, as Chairperson of Silver Oak University and Managing Director of Pratt Muller Distributors, Shital has built institutions rooted in trust, innovation, and opportunity. Inspired by his years in Houston, he introduced India to the concept of balancing education with practical work experience, pioneering stipend-based internships long before they became common practice. Under his leadership, Silver Oak evolved into a dynamic ecosystem of more than 16 institutions driven by the belief that knowledge remains society’s and India’s greatest strength. Grounded in values and strengthened by family support, Shital exemplifies how integrity, when paired with vision, can transform lives and institutions alike.
