You know what we love more than weddings? Listening to people to recount the stories that follow them. You can imagine why we were most excited when we were approached to create a special keepsake on this couple’s inter-country wedding celebration. What a joy it was to relive their most precious moments of joy, nervousness, and the excitement of starting a new life.
A Joyous Retelling …
When we sat down to have the first conversation, little did we know we would be in for a sensory treat. One filled with vivid memories, animated retellings, and moments that came alive all over again.
As work progressed, conversations would start with one moment and quickly drift into another. Sometimes, one speaker would be explaining a serious ritual and suddenly someone else would chime in with a funny incident, making us all erupt in laughter.
There were stories of lost items found in the weirdest of places and last minute delays causing the wedding planners to pivot completely. Little confusions that, in the moment, may have seemed stressful, were now being remembered with warmth and humour.
And then there were the softer memories—the ones that caught us tearing up. When a mother realised that she was letting her daughter go. The coy exchanges between the bride and the groom, the co-ordinated dances, singing, and everything in between.
Shaping Emotions into Words
As storytellers, our role is to engage with the emotion behind each memory, and to truly understand how each person chose to remember the same moment differently.
The book began to take shape through these layered recollections. Not as a perfect narrative, but as an honest one—filled with life, spontaneity, and the essence of what the celebration truly felt like. The final outcome was more than just a wedding album. It became a shared experience, preserved in a way that allows it to be revisited again and again—not just for how it looked, but for how it was lived. For us, it was a privilege to be part of this process—not just as creators, but as quiet witnesses to the joy of remembering.
