When Ishwar Kumhar and Nikita Kumawat co-founded Brandworks Technologies, they dreamed of building something India had long outsourced: the tiny but critical components that make our devices speak, listen, and connect. This week, that dream got a powerful official stamp — and a strong endorsement for the ‘Make in India’ mission.
Brandworks Technologies Private Limited has been approved under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) to manufacture Speaker Drivers and Microphones — components that power everything from smartphones to car infotainment systems. The approval places the company among 106 projects selected across 15 states, part of a government push to deepen India’s electronics value chain and reduce the country’s reliance on imported parts.
The numbers are staggering over ₹59,350 crore in investments, 74,000+ direct jobs, and ₹5.34 lakh crore in expected production. But for Brandworks, the real victory is symbolic. By localising audio components, the company is proving that Make in India is no longer just about assembling imported kits — it’s about designing, engineering, and manufacturing critical components right here at home.
“Speaker drivers and microphones are in every device we use,” said Ishwar Kumhar, CEO of Brandworks Technologies. “With this approval, we are not just manufacturing — we are planting a flag for Indian engineering and showing the world that India can build from the inside out.:
The company now joins India’s march from ‘Make in India’ to ‘Make for the World’ and we are extremely honoured to have chronicled their journey in our first edition of Jewels of India – Bharat Ki Shaan, Bharat Ka Abhiman.
