At first glance, a simple post on gardening, these words contain within them multitudes of lessons. Written by Dr. Surjit S. Babra, who is featured in our in-house paperback Rise of the Icons, they offer great food for thought on the importance of patience, gratitude, wisdom, and kindness.
IT is GARDENING SEASON
Gardening teaches lessons far beyond flowers.
A garden cannot survive on neglect, and neither can a family, a business, or a human mind.
Gardening teaches:
• patience
• discipline
• timing
• observation
• humility
• responsibility
• and care
You cannot force growth.
You can only prepare the soil, remove weeds, provide nourishment, protect what is fragile, and allow time to do its work.
Sometimes things must be pruned.
Sometimes plants must be separated or moved for their betterment.
That is not cruelty — it is stewardship.
A neglected garden slowly declines.
A cared-for garden slowly becomes beautiful.
The same applies to our lives, our families, our health, and our character.
Perhaps this is why many people who have experienced life deeply find peace in gardening. It reconnects us to nature, simplicity, seasons, and creation itself.
This gardening season, may we not only grow flowers —
May we also grow patience, gratitude, wisdom, and kindness.
