Veteran community leader and philanthropist Swatantra Jain, Founder and Chairman of Jain Vishwa Bharati–Houston, has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Sangh Seva Puraskar 2026 by Jain Vishwa Bharati, Ladnun, in recognition of decades of unwavering service to the Jain community and his efforts to preserve and promote Jain philosophy worldwide. The award is scheduled to be conferred at a future ceremony to be announced.

Earlier this year, Jain was also honoured among distinguished community leaders through Maneesh Media’s Jewels of India – Bharat Ki Shaan, Bharat Ka Abhiman initiative in New Delhi.
The Sangh Seva Puraskar recognises Jain’s lifelong devotion to faith and his exceptional contributions to institution-building, education, and humanitarian service. Among his most significant achievements is his pivotal role in establishing the Jain Vishwa Bharati Preksha Dhyan Center in Houston under the guidance of Acharya Mahapragya Ji. Since its establishment in 1999, the centre has grown into an international hub for Preksha Meditation, spiritual education, and the residence of Samanijis, serving the Jain diaspora across North America.
His impact extends far beyond the United States. In India, he played a key role in the creation of Sahitya Sadan, dedicated to preserving Jain scriptures and advancing research in Prakrit literature, while also contributing to the development of Pragya Nilayam, a centre for meditation and spiritual contemplation at the Jain Vishwa Bharati campus in Ladnun.
Swatantra Jain has also made a lasting contribution to education through his leadership with Pratham USA, serving as its former Chief Financial Officer and former President of Pratham Houston. His efforts have helped expand educational opportunities for thousands of underprivileged children across India.
Remarkably, even at the age of 79, Jain continues to embody the discipline and perseverance that define his life’s journey. A dedicated practitioner of Preksha Meditation, he recently completed a 20-kilometre run, reflecting the physical endurance, mental resilience, and commitment to self-improvement throughout his life.
